The Karnataka government is expecting to collect added revenue of Rs 840 crore, including Rs 614 crore which will be collected in the Bangalore urban district through registration fees and stamp duty following the revision.Karnataka Revenue Minister V Srinivasa Prasad said in the Legislative Assembly that the guidance value has been revised in 25 districts in the state and is in the process of being revised in the other 5 districts. From the 29 districts, other than the Bangalore urban district, the government hopes to collect an additional Rs 226 crore as in the districts the guidance value has been revised upwards and has increased on an average by 30%.To reach the target of Rs 6,500 crore through registration and stamp duty the Department of Stamps and Registration has also been modernized and reorganized. Officials said that this has been done as revenue collected from registration and stamps accounts for the third largest source of revenue for the government.The &#8216;Sakala&#8217; scheme which was put in place in Karnataka to make legal processes easier and faster in now to include land and property registration as well. Now the people of the state can get their properties registered within a day due to the scheme.A proposition is also being placed by the Karnataka Congress Government to put up a permanent valuation cell.
