Among the many beaches of Mumbai Chaupati Beach is quite popular and frequented by local as well as outsiders. Commonly known as Chaupati the complete name of this place is Girgaum Chaupati. It is located adjacent to Marine Drive in Girgaum area of South Mumbai in Mumbai city. The name Chaupati means four channels or for creeks. At the time of Ganesh Chaturthi this beach becomes the immersion spot of Ganesh idols and thus thousands of devotees come here from all over Mumbai city on the occasion.This place also a point of attraction as every year a stage performance of Ramlila is organised here and on the tenth day an effigy of Ravan is burnt to symbolise the victory of goodness over bad. This beach is placed in such a way that from one side you can see the premier Nariman Point skyline and from the other side you can enjoy the background of beautiful Malabar Hills.Though you may not find the peace here as this place is crowded most of the times as it is located almost at the centre of city but there are a lot of things here to enjoy and make your day unforgettable. This is the best place to taste the local food like bhelpuri, panipuri, ragda pattice, pav bhaji and much more as there numerous small stalls lined up selling these local delicacies. Corn bhel, roasted corn cobs or boiled corns are my favourite here. Coconut water is quite common here if you feel thirsty or have tasted some spicy food. It is the most hygienic form of water available here. Apart from tickling your taste buds this beach have some other entertainments also on offer.There are monkey dance shows, camel rides, horse rides, snake charmers, merry go rounds for kids, ferry wheels, gun shooting stalls, etc. if you are interested in knowing you future in advance you can try the fortune tellers here. Sometimes street plays are also being performed by artists here. In short there are a lot of activities to enjoy by you, your family and specially kids. All can have a fun time here apart from enjoying the rhythmic waves of Arabian Sea. In the early mornings the place becomes joggers spot. You can see seniors, youngsters jogging, walking or performing yoga in the calm and cool atmosphere of sea beach.Best time to enjoy the place<\/strong>If you are looking for a quite time then it is recommended that you visit the place in the morning time but if you want to have a great time with friends or family you can come any time of the day. The best season is from October to March when humidity is comparatively less here.
