Just like other temples of ISKCON this temple is also dedicated to Lord Krishna. Here ISKCON stands for the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. This popular religious destination is situated near Juhu Beach in Mumbai. The other names for ISKCON temple are Hare Rama Hare Krishna and Radha Rasabihariji. The land on which the temple is built was once jungle but later on it was given to ISKCON foundation to build the temple in the year 1971. The land which is known as Hare Krishna land is spread on four acres of area. It took seven years to construct the temple and finally on 14th January 1978 the temple was inaugurated.This temple was the dream of Swami Shri Prabhupada and soon his dream materialised in the form of beautiful ISKCON temple of Mumbai. This temple is among the forty ISKCON temples located around the country. This religious shrine is established with an aim to spread the Krishna Consciousness among the people who are spiritually inclined and want to know more about the spiritual fundamentals. Just like other Krishna Temples in the country this temple is also marvellously created making it more inviting and spiritual. The interiors of the temple are adorned with impressive paintings and statues. The entire environment inside the temple is so pure, peaceful and spiritual that it provides the perfect setting for meditation and personal prayers. You can add to your spiritual wisdom and knowledge by visiting the holy shrine.There are various activities performed here daily like Bhajans, prayers. Chanting of Mahamantras, etc. and you can be a part of these activities no matter which cast you belong to. Anyone can participate or attend the various spiritual, cultural as well as learning programs organised time to time in the temple premises. By doing this one can enhance the Vedic knowledge. On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami which is the birthday of Lord Krishna various celebrations and festive activities happen in the temple. Thousands of devotees from around the country come to the temple to witness the grand celebration as it is quite an important time for Krishna devotees.Apart from the stunning temple the complex also has a book publishing centre, a lecture hall and guest house with 76 rooms for those who want to stay for few days here. The rooms here include single, double, AC, Non AC and the charges are not very high as you can book a double AC room for just Rs. 3000\/- but it is necessary to make booking one month in advance as the rooms may be occupied later on. The temple looks over the Juhu skyline.<strong>Accessibility<\/strong>Andheri station is the nearest rail head to the temple. The other nearby station is Vile Parle.
