Just the name seems to be unfriendly. This popular Chor Bazaar is located close to the Bhendi Bazaar in Southern Mumbai. You can imagine this place as one of the big flea market. This is indeed an interesting place is also a tourist spot of Mumbai.\u00a0The meaning of Chor Bazaar in Hindi language is \u2018thief market\u2019. Initially the market was supposed to be called Shor Bazaar which means a noisy market but due to inability of British in pronunciation they misspelled it like Chor Bazaar and that is why till the time this Noisy Market has become Chor Bazaar. Due to its mispronunciation this place was misunderstood by some groups of sellers and thus somehow stolen things from city and other places have taken place in the shops here and sold here. Some people even jokingly say that if anything of yours is stolen or missed in the city of Mumbai you may find it in Chor Bazaar. This joke is not always true as this place sells most of the second hand things but it does not mean that they are stolen.The Chor market has two sections. One is Minimarket while the other is known as Juma Market. at Mini Market one can find old movie posters and other items related to bollywood while in Juma Market things like furniture, hardware, various tools, etc. are sold at a low price.
