But let\u2019s admit it. Luck is limited and so is stairwell space. Most of us have to deal with living in apartments with narrow stairwells. It is not so much the living as it is the moving in and moving out with the furniture that is the real disadvantage of the narrow stairwells. Things that can be squeezed through are fine but all the furniture that cannot be negotiated through the narrow twists and turns are the actual trouble makers. But to tell the truth, it is not the furniture but the buyer who is mistaken while buying the furniture. So a few things that have to be kept in mind while buying furniture are listed below:<strong>Chairs instead of sofas<\/strong>: if you have to change homes a lot it is better to buy light weight and small furniture. It is better not to buy a big and boxy sofa. But there is no need to be disappointed. You can buy nice and comfortable chairs. They will possibly not serve the purpose of your sprawling on a sofa while watching TV but being a couch potato has never done anybody any good. So enjoy your cozy chairs. Another viable solution to the situation can be buying a loveseat. While it is not as small as a chair it is smaller than a sofa and hence friendlier to narrow staircases as well.<strong>Buy furniture that can be dissembled:<\/strong> Furniture that can be taken apart can be a lot of help while moving through narrow stairwells. This is why flat pack furniture is becoming so widely famous nowadays. In case of flat pack furniture anything can be taken apart and packed into boxes. This includes dressers, wardrobes, beds, side tables, cabinets, dinner tables and what not. In this case the furniture also remains unharmed while being moved through the stairwell. The only disadvantage of flat pack furniture is that often they are made of particle board or other such material that are prone to be damaged if they are taken apart too many times and even if they are not, they do not last for long. So consider these factors as well.<strong>Keep it light<\/strong>: Just like it is next to impossible to transfer over sized furniture through narrow stairwells it is also very hard to carry heavy furniture through the same. With something light you can sometimes even hold it over the banisters. But lifting something heavy even from the ground can be quite a job! So keep everything you buy on the lighter side of the scale. Again here particle board furniture can win a lot of votes. If you can&#8217;t help it at all then it is fine but at least do not buy 2-in-1 furniture (like a sleeper bed) as though they are space savers they are also super heavy.<strong>Measure your stairs<\/strong>: You can measure the stairs before choosing a house or before moving in. if you manage to squeeze in everything in spite of the narrowness of the stairs then you are certainly in luck.
