They have to depend on brokers who take a month&#8217;s rent as their commission. The expense that includes an advance towards the owner, commission for the broker and the rent often goes beyond the affordability of the young people who constitute a major section of the house hunter population.Many complain that they spend a lot of time going around with brokers visiting houses which ultimately they might not even like. What is more, they also have to bear the broker&#8217;s travelling expenses. For these people it is far easier to find homes from online portals which are agent free and home seekers can directly interact with owners. They can choose from a variety of locations, facilities and type of houses. The negotiation of amount of rent occurs between the tenant and the owner. So the chance of being milked by a middleman is removed.Social networking sites such as Facebook also thrive in community pages and groups that bring house hunters and owners together. Some people, who are mostly students or unmarried professionals, look for apartments as hostels are expensive and do not provide comfortable facilities though the facilities are easily available with the money they charge. Therefore they often look for people to share their apartments with so that the rent amount is also shared.
