Let me take you to a place that can do the magic to your tired body. it is Guhagar, a beach town in Maharashtra state. This pretty small coastal town comes under Ratnagiri District of Maharashtra. Guhagar literary means cave house but do not go with the word meaning as this place is better known for its magnificent silvery beaches and grand temples. It has an elevation of 10 metres and is surrounded by Konkan area which is a narrow expanse of 720 kilometres along the coast line of Arabian Sea. Nature comes alive here with the scenic beaches with back drop of up to hundred metres high hills and lush green thick vegetation. Can you find a better place to relax than this one? It is awesome.If you are religiously inclined then this town has lot to offer in the form of various Shiva Temples. These temples are Vyadeshwar temple, Talkeshwar temple, Udaleshwar temple, Velneshwar temple, Balkeshwar temple, etc. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva’s son Ganapati. It is known as Ufrata Ganapati temple. Apart from these temples Chandrika temple and Durga Devi temples are also here. If there is so much natural beauty lies in a place it is impossible that there is no river. The popular Vashishti River flows close by. No doubt if there are so many temples then definitely good number of devotees will come to offer prayers and worship the various impressive forms of Lord Shiva. It is true that on special occasions like on Mahashivaratri you can see thousands of devotees in Gugar.Now if your religious hunger is satisfies let me take you to the other side of the place that is the beach area. The beaches of Guhagar are quite unspoiled, seems untouched, unexploited and inviting. The white silvery soft sand along with the rhythmic waves of Arabian sea water is irresistible for anyone. The charm of a beach that too very clean and peaceful welcomes you with open hands. This type of beach is getting rare in India. If you are done with relaxation it is time for some adventure. Here at Guhagar you will find some exquisite water sports facility to enthral your senses and release your tensions. There are some small vendors selling chats, snacks and tea can be seen here. Decent shopping facilities and restaurants are available here for your comfort and enjoyment. No doubt it can be a perfect weekend getaway or holiday destination for nearby city folks looking for a quiet less crowded and serene place to relax and rejuvenate.There is a place called Budhal close to the city. It is a seashore with full of scenic beauty and tranquil environment. The seashore of this place has various rough rocks good for shooting a scene of movie. Another attraction at Guhagar is the close by fort known as Gopalgad which is just 11 kilometres from Guhagar beach. It is situated near the light house of Anjanvel. This fort was said to be built by Siddis sometime in sixteenth century but later in the year 1660 it was conquered by Shivaji. The fort is in ruins currently but still worth exploring as the views of Arabian Sea is just awesome from the fort.Guhagar came to light from the time when Enron started the Dhabol Power Project in Anjanvel, a place close to Guhagar in the year 1990. The electricity is generated from gas. There is a facility situated at the banks of River Vaishishti for repairs, breaking and building of ships. People of Guhagar got good employment opportunities after these industries came to the place. The local population in the town is also engaged in making coir items and production of coconuts, betel nuts and last but not the least Alphanso Mangoes (Haapus Aam).Tourist attractions<\/strong><\/p>\n
