During the British times it had been an important military base. After independence Pune became an important industrial center with the coming of mechanical engineering industries and information technology companies. There are also a large number of educational institutes. The city also has good infrastructure and is relatively much more peaceful than any other Indian metro. Overall it is also a beautiful city as God has given the city an abundance of natural beauty. The city is connected to Mumbai by the Pune-Mumbai Expressway and this has pulled major industry leader such as Tata and Volkswagen to come to Pune. For these factors people from all over the country name Pune as one of the most favored cities to settle in. Not just a favoured spot to Indians but it is also a place preferred by many NRIs who are often found\u00a0inquiring\u00a0about real estate in the city.Therefore it comes as no surprise that real estate in Pune is in high demand.
