But how enjoyable will this life be if you have endless time in your hand and nothing interesting to do?Indian lifestyle is changing. Mentality of the Indian urban dwellers has changed vastly in the past decades. As the concept of nuclear families is catching up fast, the number of lonely elderlies is increasing constantly. But just because you are old does not mean you have to wait for death to finally end it all. You can still add a whole new meaning to the term living life to the fullest by moving into a retirement home.In the broad sense retirement homes are housing facilities for the retired people. You can occupy a house in a retirement community after you reach the age of 55. In the past retirement homes or more commonly known as old age homes had been regarded as a place where parents are abandoned by uncaring children. But outlooks are changing now. Retirement homes no more represent sorry old people who have nothing more to live for and no one to take care of them. They are no more forced to leave their own homes to live in some shabby building to live the rest of their life in sadness and memories of happier times. Rather, living in a retirement home is possibly just the thing to do in your retired life. It provides you with a number of options such as living with people of the same generation or age group, recreational facilities that include both indoor and outdoor facilities, elderly-friendly features in the apartments, ready cooked meals and monthly maintenance, health care etc.Retirement homes are fast coming up near big cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Kochi, Delhi etc. this is not only because children of these big cities have no time for their elderly parents but also because people who are retiring with a good amount of money in the cities are looking to settle away from the buzz of the cities. But instead of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/guide\/\" target=\"_blank\">buying a house<\/a> in the outskirts they are looking for a community where they can feel secure and also meet like minded people.Older people often suffer from loneliness and health issues. Acquaintance with other elderlies takes care of loneliness while most of the retirement communities have 24 hour health care facilities. Many elderly people also feel insecure if they have to live by themselves. Not only are the cities becoming increasingly unsafe for the aged but also in case of a medical or any other kind of emergency old people are utterly helpless in the heart of a busy city where people have hardly any time for themselves let alone go others. And retirement homes are specially designed for the aging people. Bathrooms consist of anti skid tiles and grab bars, wider doors to allow wheel chairs to pass, there is enough open space for healthy habits such as indulging in different light and heard sports, library, TV lounge, places for worship etc. There is also a much needed break from cooking and cleaning as these services are readily provided at these homes.It is safe to say that if want to give your life a new lease there will be no better place to retire to than such a home. There are certain limitations such as, you cannot move into a retirement home unless you are at least 65 years old. But if you are planning to buy a retirement home then you might as well prepare to go back to a carefree life.Many big developers such as LIC Housing Finance and Max India are also venturing into the field of developing retirement homes.
