The policy was passed in 2007 by the GMADA. It gave license to use residential accommodation for commercial purpose. A division bench in the HC which includes Justice R.P. Nagrath and Justice Surya Kant, observed that since the policy is being put to wrong use it should be scrapped.The case will be heard in the high court on 8th May. Member of the Paying Guest Association are of the opinion that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/chandigarh\/cp\/101\/pg-in-chandigarh\">paying guest accommodation<\/a> should not be considered commercial activity as the owner have the full right to rent out their accommodations as had been endowed to them by the allotment letters issued by the GMADA. The member of the Paying Guest Association and other residential accommodation of Mohali had been demanding the regulation of facilities allowed to them by GMADA policy.In the past also the GMADA had come to be in trouble with the Punjab and Haryana High Court when it has violated its own policy of landscaping on road berms in Mohali.
