You must have heard of the Sunderban before but you may not know some of the very important facts about this place. Let me help you know this place better. There are three big rivers flow in the east side of India and these are Ganga, Brahmaputra and Meghna. They all slow down in the plains of lower Gangetic area before meeting the sea. Now let me brief about the\u00a0specialties\u00a0of Sunderban:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">\u00a0Sunderban is the largest mangrove forest in the world.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">It creates the largest delta in the world.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">It has vast saline mud plains.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">It is the largest estuarine forest in the world.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">It is spread over an area of 9630 square kilometres out of which seventy percent area is covered by saline water.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">The region has 54 tiny islands.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">It is the only swamp in the world to sight Royal Bengal Tiger plummeting into the water.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">This place is recognised by the UNESCO as World Heritage Site in the year 1997.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once crowded with the Arakanese and Portuguese pirates this region is now a safe haven for rich flora and fauna. Sunderban is quite popular for the country&#8217;s special animal reserves as the favourable environment of the sunderban creates the perfect conditions for animals and a variety of flying species. There are various small water bodies in here providing natural habitat for breeding of exotic birds. The rich fauna here includes some of the most dangerous animals in the world like the big wild cat (Bengal Tiger), fishing cat, Axis deer, wild boar, Rhesus Monkeys, Mongooses, estuarine crocodiles, sharks, etc. There are swamps and estuaries spread at various places in the region. The very beautiful spotted dear or cheetahs also constitute the animal population here with an ability to run fast as they are the second fastest animals on earth after cheetah. The other animals are ferocious crocodiles and killer sharks are found in good numbers in the estuaries here.
