\"laws-for-buildings-near-monuments\"Pune<\/strong>: The state authority is drafting new regulations for buildings to be constructed under 300 metres from 285 protected monuments in Maharashtra. According to the new rule, buildings have to confirm their height, floor area, building materials, roof design and even minor details such as colour. The procedure will be starting from Mumbai’s Parel and Jogeshwari caves and then moving to Pune with covering Shaniwarwada, Pataleshwar temple and Aga Khan Palace and many other heritage buildings.The monuments are listed on the basis of their location which is generally at the heart of the city where the development and population pressure is high. The authorities have been monitoring the heritage buildings regarding their elevation, facades, drainage systems, roads and infrastructure already but the immensity of construction disturbs the charm of monuments and thus necessary bylaws are penned for the conservation of heritage. However the laws will be varying according to the type of monument, for eg: Localities around Lohagad Fort and Aga Khan Palace will have different rules to abide by.The bylaws are required to process applications for repair\/renovation in 0-100 metres and regulate new construction\/redevelopment in 101-300 metres of ASI protected monuments. These regulations are first such steps taken by the state government for the sustainability of monuments. Often the atmosphere around these heritage marvels are polluted with concrete jungles that devastated the visibility and ambience. There was a great need of mandating new rules that will improve the areas around the buildings of historic importance (or if not improve then not deteriorate atleast).
