But you simply can\u2019t decide what to put on the shelves? Or is it that no matter what you put, the unique aesthetic feel you are trying to achieve just won\u2019t happen? Here are a few tips for putting things straight o your shelves:<em>Avoid Clutter<\/em>: You may own a lot of beautiful showpieces. And you may want to put all of them out on display. But the trick to beautiful shelf arrangement is avoiding putting too many things on it at once. Leave a bit of empty space. Choose those items which are your favourite. And they do not all have to be the same type either. You can put books, photographs, showpieces, decorative crockery etc. But whatever you put, make sure they are not too many and do not seem to be cluttered.<em>Decide Your Style<\/em>: What do you want your shelves to show? Do you want to show taste and class? Or do you want to use your shelves to have a functional side? Do you want the display to be contemporary or traditional? Mixing a lot of styles does not go well with any kind of d\u00e9cor. Do not put stuffed toys on the same shelves that are displaying sophisticated emerald statues. It is an offense to the tasteful eyes.<em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-15046\" alt=\"shelves2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/shelves2.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>Put Like Things Together<\/em>: If you own beautiful decorative crockery, put them on display. Nothing looks better that light reflected by cut crystalware. If you have any kind of collection such as of shells or porcelain statues, you can also put them on you selves. You can also group things together on the basis of colors. Things of light color when put in contrast with dark colors give a stunning effect.<em>Decorate By Color<\/em>: Think up a color scheme you want to follow. Too many colors may seem too distracting. Therefore restrict your d\u00e9cor within two or three colors. You can also go for monochrome or vary it between two contrasting colors such as black and white or red and blue.<em>Vary Shapes And Sizes<\/em>: Putting objects that contrast with each other in shape and size can add elements of interest to your shelves. There is no need to maintain strict symmetry. Put a tall vase beside a few small square photo frames and see the effect.<em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-15047\" alt=\"shelves1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/shelves1.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>Layering<\/em>: Instead of putting all your things on the same plane on a shelf, set some things a bit into the background and put some on the foreground. Like if you have a lot of book, you can line them up in the background and in the foreground put small porcelain showpieces. This will add depth to your shelves. You can also lay some books flat to create a raised platform for some small display items. This will create vertical layering.<em>Artwork and Photographs<\/em>: Mix artwork with books and photographs on your shelves. A bit of variety always works best.<em>Categorize<\/em>: You can fix a category for each shelf. On one shelf put only photo frames, on another put only books, on another put old knick-knacks that have special memories attached with them and so on.Top of shelves: Don\u2019t forget the top of the shelves, especially if you have a low display case. You can use this space for storage. Put things in boxes and put them on top of the shelves. Or you can put an antique clock on top if your choice is a sophisticated one.Basically decorating your shelves depends on what you want them to say about you. If you love soft toys and books and want to put them on your shelves, you can do that. If you have too much you want to put on your shelves, you can avoid clutter by putting them into beautiful and colorful boxes and put them on the shelves.
