The growth is fascinating but the development is turning these metros in the concrete jungles to accommodate more and more people coming here. Hills are demolished, rivers are polluted and trees are cut to create new working spaces and digital townships. But there is one city that is still keeping its charm high by its long chain of gardens still maintained. Yes you got me right I am talking about the popular Garden city, Bangalore. Even though Bangalore is a silicon city no one can deny the beauty of its chain of green gardens. There are many factors responsible for crowning this city as Garden city like the perfect climatic conditions, topography of the region, ample greenery with natural landscapes and the presence of numerous gardens some even at the heart of the city.Let me list some of the major gardens of Bangalore city here:Cubbon ParkIt is one of the most important and one of the largest parks in Bangalore because it houses many historical monuments, government buildings, cultural institutions, scientific institutions, etc. in its surroundings. It is located in the heart of the city with an area of about 300 acres. This park is accessible from all major roads like M. G. Road, Kasturba Road, etc.Coles ParkAnother important park on the list is Coles Park. This park has got its name from a resident of Mysore since 1914. It is located at Fraser Town on the Promenade Road in the Eastern part of Bangalore. For the residents in the surrounding areas it is a favourite place to relax, jog, walk and enjoy with kids. The Bandstand is quite an impressive attraction in park. Here the band of Bangalore Rifle Volunteers performs for the visitors. Currently the park is owned by the Municipal Corporation of Bangalore city. The Coles Park has been renovated in order to facilitate public. Apart from the band stand this park has beautiful lawns, jogging track, kids play area, etc. on the band stand benches are installed for sitting. The most important thing is that this one of the rare gardens that is disabled friendly.Bugle Rock ParkThis park is one of the popular gardens of the city as it has got its name because it houses a watch tower from the time of Kempe Gowda. It was made of rock and was used to warn people of any intruders into the city by Kempe Gowda’s men. They used to do it by giving a bugle call. It is said that this huge rock is approximately three thousand years old. There is a huge water tank in the park and just close to that is the statue of G V Gundappa. It is situated at the Basavanagudi area of South Bangalore.M.N. Krishna Rao ParkSituated at Basavanagudi area of Bangalore city this garden is a beautiful garden with large trees, attractive landscaping and all the facilities. It is a perfect setting for joggers, morning walkers, relaxers and kids who want to play. It is named after Late M. N. Krishna Rao who used to be the Dewan of Mysore state. The park is spread over an area of 69825 sq metres.Jayamahal ParkThis park does not comes in the largest park categories but still it is unique and popular in the city not only because of the spectacular landscaping and greenery but also for its impressive mural works and statues made of plaster of Paris. The park is spread over a small land of 1436 square meters. It is located near Bangalor eOne Centre, Jayamahal- 560046.Cariappa Memorial ParkCariappa Memorial Park is one of the largest gardens in the city of Bangalore. Spread over an area of twenty two (22) acres of land this park is located in the Heart of city on the M.G. Road in Bangalore. Being a part of the parade grounds the Cariappa Memorial Park is named after the Field Marshall K. M. Cariappa who served in the Indian Armed Forces. You can see a seven feet tall statue of F. M. Cariappa at the entrance of the park. This park was established by the Indian Army in the year 1996. It is also maintained by the Indian Army. The very inviting bandstand catches good crowd when six military bands perform here at every fortnight. The bandstand is surrounded by green lawns where viewers can sit and enjoy the performance comfortably. There are many more appealing things in the park like Waterfalls, Tarzan swing, Burma bridge, Zigzag tunnels, Spider webs, Sand pits, Ponds, Balance bars, etc.Lal baughLal bagh which means Red Garden in English is popular for being the best Botanical garden in Bangalore. The credit for initiating such a beautiful place on an area of around 40 acres goes to Hyder Ali who was the ruler of Mysore during eighteenth century while his son the great Tipu Sultan not only continued the legacy but also added new chapters to it. He finished the garden and gradually improved the quality and added varieties of flora to the garden by importing rare plant species from around the world. Today it is spread over sprawling 240 acres of land in Southern Bangalore. The Lal Bagh is huge garden which attracts thousands of visitors every year from different parts of country and outside. The main attractions in the garden are as under:

The Glass House

Collection of tropical plants

Aquarium

Lake

Kempe Gowda Tower

Lawn clock

Flower shows

Lal Bagh Rock

Pigeon House

Deer Paddock

The Bandstand

Museum

This park is not just a park but a centre for scientific study of plants as well as botanical artwork.
