The city is also known as the gateway of Uttar Pradesh. The evolution in the real estate market and infrastructural growth has lead to the development of the city on a large scale. The credit for the improvement of the city mainly goes to Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). GDA to a large extent is responsible for the city upliftment.<strong>About Ghaziabad Development Authority:<\/strong>Ghaziabad Development Authority which came into existence few decades back primarily is in charge of the development of the city. Land acquisition, construction of homes, housing plan schemes, development of infrastructure and providing basic facilities to the resident of the city are the chief objectives of GDA. This development authority is divided into different departments which are related to land acquisition, planning financing, engineering, master plan, enforcement, property etc. Each department follows their respective roles appropriately. The development authority not only deals with the realty and infrastructure augmentation but it also looks after the expansion of recreational areas and other social facilities for the citizens of Ghaziabad.GDA have successfully enriched number of dairy farms, police stations, clubs, electricity divisions, telephone exchange departments, recreational zones, gardens, health care centers, nursing homes for the expediency of the people and enhancement of city. To cater the needs of the working population, GDA has also come up with some fine commercial complexes in the prime residential area like Kaushambi, Vashali, Indirapurm, Govindpuram, Karpooripuram, Swarn Jayanti Puram and Partap Vihar.<strong>Housing Projects by GDA:<\/strong>The main motto of Ghaziabad Development Authority is to provide economical residences to the different income groups of the society. The middle income groups are the main targets for affordable housing projects. Most of the residential complexes offer sufficient parking space, adequate water supply, easy connectivity to roads and other means of transportation, proper sewer, drainage and other basic amenities. GDA is coming up with some new well planned residential projects that comprises of apartments and townships bounded with lush green belts and dash of amenities.GDA is planning to build two lakh new low-priced houses that will cost Rs. 5 lakh for 1BHK apartments and 10 lakh for 2 BHK apartments. Apart from this GDA is also setting up a township in one of the hotspots of Ghaziabad. The proposed township will be about 25 to 27 storey tower with the touch of luxury.<strong>Metro Rail Project:<\/strong>With the consent of the Government, Ghaziabad Development Authority has emerged with a metro project in the city. This metro rail will connect different locations of Ghaziabad to the Metro Rail Network of Delhi. The project will be developed in three phases namely Phase I, Phase II and Phase III. This major infrastructural project will improve the connectivity and elevate the city to new heights.<strong>Other key projects:<\/strong>Besides the Metro Rail Project, GDA is also undertaking project related to sports infrastructure. GDA will build new cycling tracks from new Ghaziabad Railway Station to Sanjay Nagar Flyover and other one, parallel to the Hindon Canal. Ghaziabad Development Authority is also going to construct 6 new sports compound. Two will be built in the main city and the others in Trans- Hindon area.GDA plays a vital role in advancement of the city.
