From heavy infrastructure to town planning, the BDA has worked hard to achieve staggering results that had even amazed other hi-tech cities of the country.<strong>Bangalore Development Authority (BDA)<\/strong>Came into existence in 1976 and emerged from the City Improvement Trust Board, Bangalore development Authority formed under the BDA Act 1976 and constitutes the planning authority, planning functions and the development functions of its ancestor CITB. It focuses on the improvement of infrastructure; provide sites and services for the construction of necessary housing units for the underprivileged.About 76,000 sites have been allotted till now for the construction of residential plots and around 800 plus sites have been given for public utility and other organizational purpose.It works in every major field viz. Engineering, town planning, IT, finance, law, public relations, land acquisition and forestation.<strong>Functions of BDA<\/strong>The two primary functions of the BDA are planning and development of the city. The functions are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BDA is itself the planning authority of the city. All the developmental plans are made by BDA only that features both expected and desired future development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The preparation of scheme plans and approval of development and building plans for the housing society is to be done by BDA only.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The Residential sites, Commercial sites, Industrial sites, Civic amenity sites, Parks and playgrounds have been planned and implemented by the authority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The construction of housing societies (that are generally called as staff quarters) for EWS, LIG, MIG and HIG is also carried out by BDA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>BDA guides and controls every major development in the infrastructure of the city.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ongoing Projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Development entry point to Bangalore City<\/strong>: The BDA has taken the possession of the project of developing 5 entry points of Bangalore. The locations include: Tucker Road (NH-4), Airport Road Hunsemaranahalli (NH7), Old Madras Road (NH4), Hosur Road (NH7) and Mysore Road (SH17). The developments are the basis on varied themes of history, science and technology and cultural heritage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Kanteerava Studio Junction Grade separator in outer ring road<\/strong>: It is one of the busiest junction in the city and a high developmental plan is worked out for this four legged intersection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Signal Free Corridor from Sirsi Circle to Agara Lake<\/strong> Via Lalbagh port road Bangalore by connecting Grade separators<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>GAD Jakkasandra junction, GAD Koramangala 80 feet road junction, GAD St.John Hospital road.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Peripheral Ring Road with a total length of 116 km connecting the outer circle of the city.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Draft Master Plan-2015<\/strong>According to the draft master plan 2015 framed by the Bangalore development authority, a total area of 1306 sq km is planned for construction that will constitute 387 villages, 7 City Municipal Councils (CMC) and 1 Town Municipal Council (TMC). The plan will be formulated with the use of Geographical Information System (GIS) and Management Information System (MIS). The development will be fully sustainable such that it will have minimal effect on the already-perishing-environment. The area will be divided into residential, industrial, commercial and green zones.
