It has already missed its previous deadline which was set on December 2012 in spite of Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath having declared that the mid-term review of the Master Plan would be complete by end of 2012.However it is only natural that the review took so much time because each amendment in the Master Plan had to go through a board of inquiry and authority meetings, and then presented to the public for three months for filing objections\/suggestions. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/delhi\/real-estate\" target=\"_blank\">Delhi<\/a> Development Authority had brought out a public notice inviting suggestions\/objections for the first lot of 23 amendments on October 1, 2012. These amendments had been finalized on January 2013. Presently another 21 amendments have been presented to the public and the third lot of amendments is being prepared. The next meeting of the Master Plan review may be held by mid-February 2013.The amendments suggest changes in development norms for construction of multi-storey flats in planned areas. They suggest that residential group housing societies should be set free from current floor-area ratio (FAR). It should be raised from 400 sq m to 1200 sq m to include recreational areas such as libraries, reading room, community hall, cr\u00e8che etc.The amendments of the midterm review also suggest an overall increase of FAR by 50% \u00a0for the redevelopment of local shopping centers and sub-city markets. The redevelopment of these markets is important to solve environmental and traffic problems in the residential areas around which these are located.
