The area was expected to be 2800 acres (11 km<sup>2 <\/sup>) for the IT Park. The investment in the project is Rs. 600 million. The IT sector here has more than 70000 employees in some big software companies like <strong>Infosys, Sasken, Accenture, Persistent Systems, Capgemini, Wipro<\/strong> etc.Apart from the global recognition in the field of IT and technology, Infosys Campuses in India is also acknowledged for its futuristic and spectacular structures. Geometric structures like circle, oval, triangular are prominent building shapes of most of the campuses. After marking its presence in Bangalore and Mysore, it is the Pune campus that flaunts its extravagant architectural form.<strong>Infosys Pune<\/strong> is known for not only a very well established and one of the best software companies in the country but also for its amazing infrastructure whether it is in Bangalore , Mysore or Pune. We all must have observed the spectacular<strong> giant egg shaped structure in Hinjewadi<\/strong>. These are actually the specially designed buildings for Infosys by renowned architect Hafeez Contractor and M\/S Construction Catalysers. The construction started in February 2006 and completed in September 2006. The total project cost was Rs. 13 Crores and the structural steel used is 450MT. The concept of the building has been given the egg shape using the structural and architectural engineering skills. The superbly dynamic aesthetics of the building shows the state of the art of construction techniques and the functional values of design.The building structure will definitely become an example of architectural excellence in times to come. The egg shape buildings are designed to reflect the concept of evolution. It was a specially challenging task for the concept of eggs to\u00a0materialize.\u00a0 The building has become icon and it is a matter of pride for everyone who is involved in its creation. The unique steel framed shell with glass and aluminum cladding are used to construct the building. The internal built form consists of 150000 sq ft of usable floor space on five floors. The internal building structure with an elliptical foot print is a conventional structure made of reinforced cement concrete and brickwork. The uniqueness of the design lies in the enclosing shell made of steel, glass and aluminium cladding. The complete structure of the shell stands away from the support system of the internal structure. The outer frame has a different structural system. Because of the tilting of the building, one end appears to be buried into the ground and the other end is lifted up. The main entrance of the building is from under the raised part. The main entrance has a glass wall with a conical surface that is curved and tilted. The cladding has large elliptical cut outs that are fitted with high performance doubly glazed units to increase the visibility of the inner floors to the outside world. The glass with the aluminium cladding helps in solar\u00a0passivization\u00a0and energy conservation. The hi-tech material and technology used to create the entire structure.Yet another noteworthy aspect of the <strong>Infosys campus Pune<\/strong>, is its &#8216;Campus&#8217;.\u00a0The Infosys \u00a0Campus in Pune has exclusive facilities like Libraries, Cafes, Super Markets, ATM&#8217;s, Swimming pools, Food courts and\u00a0\u00a0many others. \u00a0All the phases of Infosys have similar recreational facilities setup for the employees.
