Get ready for an extraordinary experience of a unique fusion of various states and their specialities under one roof.Though it may seem to be a bazaar with rural setting but it is quite contemporary with an amalgamation of art, crafts, food and cultural activities.Dilli Haat is set up jointly by Delhi Tourism, D.C. (Handicrafts) &amp; D.C. (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India &amp; Ministry of Tourism. The top most purpose of this market is to encourage artists from all over India to keep alive the rich heritage of India by preserving the arts, crafts and other forms of Indian culture. The authorities jointly tried to provide a common platform to these needy artists whose talents and skills were almost dying without any support of government. But now they have a proper platform to showcase their talent in the form of arts, crafts and handlooms and not only that they are now earning a living by selling their articles with low cast of maintenance or investment.In this market the artists are mobile. It means they are rotating. They get a shop or stall on a minimum payment of rupees 100 per day for fifteen days but they need to register with the authorities along with filing a proper application form. This flexible arrangement always breathes fresh air into the market. If you are thinking that the prices in this market must be very high then do not worry as the organisers always keep an eye on prices and try to keep them moderate in order to sustain a balance between buyers and sellers. There are 62 stalls currently operating in the Dilli Haat. In the year 2003 the Dilli Haat Market has become fully wheelchair accessible even the bathroom is also wheelchair accessible.You can get crafts of various native places, useful articles as well as ethnic products from different states of India. This market is permanent not weekly and you can enjoy here for long hours.
