Soon their concept materialised in the form of &#8220;Garden of Five Senses&#8221;. Spread over an area of 20.5 acres this special garden is designed by Delhi architect Pradeep Sachdeva. The Garden of Five Senses which is developed by Delhi Tourism and Transportation Corporation is located at Saidul Ajaib Village quite close to Mehrauli Heritage area opposite Saket in Delhi.This unique garden is created at a cost of rupees 10.5 crore in a period of three long years. It was opened to public in February 2003. The village of Saidul Ajaib provided the best ground for the garden creation as the topography gave a boost to the landscaping of this garden. As the name suggests the garden has various theme sections in it. It has partly rocky section that gives an inviting look to the visitors. Among its distinct areas Mughal Gardens, pools of water Lilies, bamboo courts, herb garden, solar energy park, etc. are some of them. In the evening when all the lampshades are switched on it looks absolutely fantastic.You must be wondering that the Garden of Five Senses must have some connection with our senses. Yes you are absolutely right as this garden is actually created and designed in order to stimulate the five senses of human beings by its different themes. It encourages you to be more conscious of your surroundings by giving you an opportunity to touch, smell, hear and see the beauty of natural environment. There is an amphitheatre where you can sit and enjoy the tour of Garden. No doubt it will be a pleasant experience for you and your five senses. It encourages you to use your touch and feel sense by touching the rock sculptures and exhibits, smell sense for a variety of fragrances of flowers, sight sense by beautiful landscaping and magnificent creations all around, hearing sense by the soothing sound of ceramic bells and waterfalls and last but not the least it stimulates your taste senses by mouth watering delicacies at the food court. When you consciously explore the garden you can observe the geometric arrangement of plants, splendid done up stone pathways, lotus pools, green leaves beds on clear water, stainless steel bird figures on slate clad pillars, colour gardens and many more make your day memorable and totally relaxing. You may feel like you are in a heaven on the Earth. More than 200 varieties of plants are blooming here. The rich flora of the garden breathes new life in you and gives fresh air amidst crowded city. In the vibrant colour garden you can see many familiar and not so familiar species of plants and shrubs like Kalpaka Vritch, Kadanbaha, bamboo, cacti, teak, Rudraksh, Camphor, Arjun, etc.It is a perfect place to spend weekend evenings with family, to relax, to enjoy or just to take a break from the hectic schedule of city life. There are various amenities in the park to make you completely occupied like shopping plazas and food courts. This garden serves as a cultural programme venue throughout the year. There are several programmes organised here including Garden tourism festival, food festival, Dandiya festival, cultural melas (carnivals), etc. Currently the chief Manager of DTTDC Mr. V. K. Jatav is managing the garden. As per the agreement in august 2005 between DTTDC and ITE Pvt. Ltd. 31 commercial food and craft outlets are operating here.
