In my opinion the Pataleshavar Cave Temple is one of the best examples of ancient architecture. Its architectural beauty and the religious significance made it one of the favourite places to visit in Pune. As the name shows it is a cave that has a temple inside under the ground. Pataleshavar cave temple is built in the 8th century. It is one of the oldest structures in Pune. The most interesting thing about this cave temple is it is carved out of a single rock and thus it is the finest example of rock cut architecture. The entire structure is carved out of one basalt or black rock. It consists of many pillars, one sitting area and rooms where the idols of lord Shiva, Goddess Laxami, lord Ganesha, Nundi bull, lord Rama & his wife Sita and brother Laxman are kept.A huge brass bell is hanged at the gate of the rock structure. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva whose idol is situated in a cup shaped room. There are carvings on the walls of the structure but they are quite simple as compare to those of Ajanta Ellora caves. The structure is not visible from the road that approaches the cave temple. When you visit the place you are compelled to think how this huge rock is carved in such a beautiful structure in a time period when no machines were there to help. The Pataleshavar cave temple is located at Jungle Maharaj road in Shivaji Nagar and can be easily accessed by an auto rickshaw or any other public or personal transport. The timings of the temple are from 8am in the morning till 5.30 pm in the evening all days of the week. Apart from the temple this place also has a museum here that can also be visited.ByRuchi Mahajan (Contributor)

Also Check Out Picnic Spots near Pune.

займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн

There are many good examples of architectural intelligence in Pune.
