Let me introduce you to a town which a quite significant in terms of history as well as archaeologically. The name of the place is Lepakshi situated in the district of Ananthapur in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. The nearest city from Lepakshi is Hindupur which is just fifteen kilometers. From Bangaluru Lepakshi is 120 to 125 kilometers in the north direction. To reach Lepakshi one can use state transport buses or train that drops at Hindupur and then by taking a taxi one can reach Lepakashi. If you are going by your own vehicle then National Highway NH 7 towards Hyderabad should be used. Lepakshi is basically a holy shrine and the main deities here are Shiva, Vishnu and Virabhadra. The archaeological site of Lepakshi is very popular because of the Veerbahadra temple which is created by two brothers known as Viranna and Virupanna in the reign of Achyuta Devaraya. Vijayanagar was under his control between 1530 AD to 1542 AD. The structural design of the temple is an outstanding example of Vijayanagar architectural style. The intricately carved sculptures are the result of efforts and skills of artisans of Vijayanagar Kingdom. The specialty of this place is that it is popular for the stunning mural paintings belonging to the Vinjayanagar Kings. Apart from paintings several old inscriptions written in Kannada language can be explored on the walls. There is Naga from Nagalinga is said to be carved on single stone by artists. The huge statue of Nandi Bull will keep you engaged for several minutes as the grandness of the sculpture says that it is made beautifully out of one granite stone. It is the largest one stone sculpture of Nandi Bull in India. The Shivalinga resting under the huge King Kobra shelter is quite an impressive work of art. Beautifully carved pillars in the main temple in Lepakshi do tell a lot about the rich carving skills during that period. There are actually five shrines in Lepakshi named Papantheshwara, Raghunatha, Shrirama, Veerbhadra and Durga. These temples are built on a tortose shaped hill called Kurma Saila. Among all these holy shrines the Veerbhadra temple is considered to be the most significant one.You can look forward for an outstanding experience of history, skills of people at that time and their art work. Here is a list to help you what to explore:

Rock chain

Vastu Purush

Padmini race lady

Hanging pillar

Durga Paadam

Wall sculpture including Ramayana & Mahabharata

Roof painting by natural colors

Eyes of Viroopaakshanna (the legend attached to this spot says that there was some misunderstanding because of that king ordered to make the builder blind but before the guards can do the bit he himself plucked his eyes and threw them on the wall of the temple. This tragic story ended years ago but the blood stains still can be seen on the wall of temple.)

The route to reach Lepakshi is quite green covered by big trees like neem trees, tamarind trees and small plants like sunflower, thorn plants, etc. you won’t feel tired as the greenery around keeps you refresh all the time.If you are starting from bangaluru then you can follow the following route:Bangaluru -> Yelahanka -> Devanahalli -> Chikaballapur -> Bagepalli -> LepakshiDistance between Bangaluru and Lepakshi125 kilometresWeather conditionsThis place is usually hot and dry and thus avoid summer season to visit the place.FoodThe road side small restaurants on the way can satisfy your hunger.RecommendationsA must visit place of archaeological interest. RUCHI MAHAJANзайм на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн

If you are bored of modern places of entertainment like clubs, water parks, malls, theme parks, etc. then let me take you in the history which is worth exploring.
