The actual name of this famous and beautiful temple is Shri Adhya Katyani Shakti Peeth Mandir. The temple is located in Chhatarpur, Mehrauli in the southern part of Delhi. The temple is created in the year 1974 by Baba Sant Nagpal.&nbsp;You may be surprised to know that this temple complex is the second largest in entire country spread over an area of 60 acres but before the Akshardham temple was built in Delhi in 2005 it was the first largest temple in country and second in the world. The main deity of the temple is goddess Katyayani (Durga). The famous monument Qutub Minar is just 4 kilometres from the temple. The architecture style used to create this temple is Hindu Architecture. The founder of the temple Sant Nagpal ji died in the year 1998 and his Samadhi shrine is created in the premises of Shiv Gauri Nageshwar temple. Marble stone is used to build the temple and the facades are intricately decorated using latticed work in stones. A south Indian style temple is also added to the premises of temple.The temple complex has more than twenty small and some large temples that are actually divided into three parts. The main temple has the deity goddess Durga, the second temple is dedicated to goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesha while the third shrine is dedicated to Sant Baba Nagpal who was the creator of the temple. The premises hold beautiful green sprawling lawns with carved stone and wooden sculptures. Massive use of marble stone is seen here. The main goddess Durga or Katyayani is worshipped during Navratri festival. She is a part of nine forms of Hindu goddess Durga (Shakti). Goddess Katyayani&#8217;s temple is very big with impressive carvings a touch of south Indian style of architecture. Large numbers of devotees visit the temple during festive season.A holy ancient tree is an important feature in the temple complex. This holy tree is situated at the entrance of the main temple. It is said that if you tie a thread to this holy tree your wish will come true and that is why you can see many devotees tying threads to the tree in order to make their wish fulfilled by the tree. The temple of goddess Durga is open from morning to evening. Below this shrine the temple dedicated to Radha Krishna and Lord Ganesha are there. You can also visit the temples of lord Rama, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha in the complex. A big Nandi bull is there in the Lord Shiva temple.There is a large hall used for religious discourses and bhajan singing (religious songs). In the construction of the temples north Indian as well as south Indian temple architecture styles are seen. It is important to know that Goddess Katyayni&#8217;s shrine is open during Navratras and on Ashtamis of every month but shrine of Maha Gauri is open every day for devotees.There is another temple known as Shiv Gauri Nageshwar Temple in other complex. There is a huge Trishul at the entrance. A huge door with actually very big lock, a big bell, a big shankh (shell), a huge statue of Hanumanji attracts your attention immediately. The Samadhi of Guruji also lies in the same complex.
