The natural topography around offers many beautiful places to explore. Devarayana Durga is one such magnificent place which is famous picnic spot among Bangalorians because of its beautiful location, natural spring, temples and ample greenery. Devarayana Durga also known as Anebiddasari is a hilly place at a height of 3940 feet located just 65 kilometres from Bangaluru at Bangaluru Tumkur way in Tumkur district. It is a perfect place to spend weekend, to trek or to visit ancient temples situated here. Unlike other hilly places around Bangaluru this place is visited by devotees more than picnickers thus you can call it a beautiful holy destination in lap of nature. It has got its name after Shri Chikkadevaraja Wodeyar who ruled the region in the late seventeenth century. The place consists of three elevations and several holy shrines. One can explore the following:1. Lord Laxmi Narsimha temple at first elevation2. Ane Done Natural spring3. Rama Tirtha & Dhanus Tirtha at middle elevation (Government travellers’ Bungalow)4. Huge cave with idols of Rama, Sita and Laxman5. Temple of Narsimha or Kumbhi with Sanctum house, Sukanasi, Navgraha mantapa, Mukhamantapa6. Three ponds named Narsimha Teertha, Parasara teertha, Pada TeerthaThere are ancient temples of Narasimha who is the main deity. The temple is said to be around thousand years old and built by Kanthirava Narasaraja I in Dravidian architectural style facing east. From the inscriptions we get to know that the structure is repaired by Mysore king Krishnaraja Wodeyar III in the year 1858 in order to retain the original structure. You can add another name in the list of people or party who helped to maintain the current temple in its original shape. It is the TVS Group, a popular automobile company of South. Among the two Narsimha temples the Yoga Narsimha temple is situated at the top of the hill while the other Bhoga Narsimha temple is at the bottom of the hill. During the month of February/March week long Car festival is held here with lots of fun and fare activities. The temple timings are from 9.00 to 3.00 in the morning and 5.00 to 8.30 in the evening. Free distribution of food is done during lunch hours. The other festival celebrated here is Narsimha Jayanti in the month of May.Natural Water Spring – there is a natural water spring here known as Naamada Chilume which is coming out from a small pit at the surface of the rock. There is an interesting legend attached to this spring. It says that Lord Rama from the great Ramayana came here during their Vanavaas period and stayed in this place with Sita and Laxman. He tried to find water because he had to put Nama (a sandal paste) on his forehead but he couldn’t find anywhere. Then he shot an arrow at the rock and the miracle happened. The powerful arrow created a hole in the rock and water came out of it. Due to this legend this place has got its name Naamada Chilume meaning spring of tilak (the mark applied on the forehead by Hindus). You may not believe the legend but it is true that the fresh water comes out of this small hole throughout the year and it has never dried up till today. There are foot prints of Lord Rama can be seen near the spring. Everyone should check it out.The huge artificial lake spread over an area of thousand acres can also be explored while visiting Devarayana Durga. Other things to explore here are Spotted Deer Park nearby and an Ayurvedic garden spread over an area of twenty acres of land. This garden has more than three hundred varieties of medicinal plants to cure various diseases. Taking a plant with you is not a bad idea. This place is good spot for bird watchers as you can sight here Spotted owlet, Coppersmith, Robins, King Fishers, Red Bulbul, etc. this place also offers good trekking opportunity. The level of trekking here is moderate. The height of the hill is 1188 metres. There are cycling trips are also organised here but not for beginners as the track is of level three difficulty. If you are an expert in cycling then think about opting cycling trip here.AccommodationTraveller’s bungalow at middle elevation, some other accommodation facilities are available.FoodThere are restaurants on the way as well as at the bottom of the hill. How to reach HERE?Bangaluru –> Bangaluru- Tumkur road –> Dobaspet –> take right just after flyover –> Devarayana DurgaRegular buses ply from Bangaluru to tumkur.Distances from Devarayana Durga toBangaluru – 65 kilometresDobaspet – 25 kilometresTumkur – 15 kilometresNearby excursionsShivagange hillsNijagalluRuchi Mahajan

Check out more Picnic spots near Bangalore here.

займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн

The silicon city Bangaluru has a variety of weekend getaways in its surrounding areas.
