\"new-buildings\"Delhi<\/strong>: Housing localities like Kidwai Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, RK Puram, Netaji Nagar, Moti Bagh and Lodhi Road that are located along the Ring Road in south Delhi are going to be redeveloped as per the new plans of the government.Those impoverished buildings that are now old enough, will be crushed to death and new high-end residential and commercial districts would be built. This would be one of the biggest redevelopment exercises since Independence that will change the skyline of the national Capital.The existing two storey buildings will be replaced by 10-12 storey residential blocks, funded either by leasing office space that will be part of the redevelopment or through the sale of land to private companies.The secretary in the ministry of Urban Development, Sudhir Krishna said that “Land is not being used optimally and it is costing us a lot of money to maintain these old structures. All government colonies will be redeveloped. Lifestyles of people have changed, there is need for more parking and neighbourhood shopping, which will be provided in these modern buildings<\/em>.”The old buildings were built in 60’s and there are 30 such localities constituting 1,100 hectares (prime areas). This concept of redefining the buildings would decrease the deficiency of space in the city which already has 16.7 million people and has hundreds of new migrants entering it every day.The construction of these new buildings will be done by the government’s own firm, the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC).<\/p>\n
