Infrastructure improvement drives the growth and development of the city at macro level and locality at the micro level. Chennai has witnessed development in the infrastructure by focusing on initiatives like the renovation of airport, metro work progression, widening of the major roads, erection of flyovers. These plans aid smoother flow of traffic. Due to the connectivity people are looking for home-buying options in the outskirts.From past few years, these avenues have become a harbor for the investors and real estate builders in the city. Chennai is amongst the major real estate markets of the country. Locations like ECR and OMR are the growth corridors and will observe stronger demand and the prices are likely to increase as well. As such, a smooth and free flow of traffic along this path has become imperative. With the arrival of the metro rail, the GST road will become relatively less obstructed with traffic.The widening of the arterial roads will also give scope for the residential and commercial development in these areas. Provisions are made for the deployment of police personnels at the Tidel Park and the SRP Tools junction during peak hours to ensure smooth flow of traffic. This will provide with better connectivity from OMR to the rest of the city. The Managing Director of The Lancor Holdings, RV Shekar says, \u201cThe connectivity and traffic management on the GST Road is extremely well only till the airport.\u00a0 Places like Guduvancherry, Potheri and Maraimalainagar are high-flying places from the point of view of residential investment. It has been noticed that, over the years, individuals from the city have invested in this area because of its proximity to the GST road. However, the road beyond the airport is only around 200 meters wide and becomes crowded during the peak hours. The roads need to be widened to provide a better infrastructure for the people commuting from Tambaram, Guduvancherry and other neighbouring suburbs.\u201dThe Government is taking initiatives towards the construction of airports, flyovers and in and around the city. The metro project is on track which will drastically change the transportation scenario of this city.
